  • Classic Game Room reviews HOMEFRONT for PS3 Playstation 3 from THQ and Kaos, a first person shooter that remakes the storyline in Red Dawn except with new bad guys and less Charlie Sheen. This first person shooter feels like an amped up version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare or Black Ops which gives it a Black (the PS2 game) style with ultra-powerful weapons and an unstoppable arsenal at your disposal whenever you need it. The single player campaign finishes too short, just as the game starts getting good. Multiplayer may appeal to some multiplayer shooter fans with concepts like in game battle points spent on tanks and helicopters, but it’s pretty much more of the same when you get down to it. This CGR video review of Homefront from THQ has gameplay from Homefront on PS3 showing single player FPS shooter gameplay and multiplayer game play on Playstation 3 (and Xbox 360) during Homefront videogame game play.

  • Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus from Sucker Punch, Sanzaru Games and Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3. This version of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus is part of the compilation disc The Sly Collection for the PlayStation 3. Originally released for the PlayStation 2, Sly Cooper is a 3D platform game in a very modern sense. That is to say you do have more exploring to do than actual platforming, but Sly Cooper does tip the scales toward the latter — at least, more than most platformers of the time. Playing as a young raccoon who steals from criminals, a master thief in a long line of furry master thieves, you have to avenge the loss of his family heirloom, the Thievius Raccoonus. This video review features video gameplay footage of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus for the PlayStation 3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

  • Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Slam Bolt Scrappers from Fire House Games, a downloadable game for the PlayStation 3. If nothing else, Slam Bolt Scrappers is a unique idea. In fact, it’s a collection of unique ideas, a heaping pile of bolts and scrap metal you’d never expect to see piled together. It combines the falling-block puzzle mechanics of Tetris with simple beat ‘em up combat, and it pours those seemingly immiscible components over a bizarre game of tower defense. Slam Bolt Scrappers spends its ample energy sampling as many genres and conventions as it can…without mastering any of them. This video review features video gameplay footage of Slam Bolt Scrappers for the PlayStation 3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

  • Classic Game Room reviews FIGHT NIGHT CHAMPION from EA Sports for Playstation 3 PS3, also available for Xbox 360. Fight Night Champion excels in the graphics department with fighters that look exactly like their real-life human being counterparts. Cool lighting, slick visuals and awesome cut scenes make this a winner for boxing fans. Those more into traditional videogame fighting games like Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat and Tekken 6 may not enjoy the attempt at a more realistic approach to the boxing style, but with a variety of difficulty levels Fight Night Champion can be played by anyone from button mashers to aficionados. Play friends online, kick ass in a pick up and play mode or plow through the Rocky meets Penitentiary storyline. Fighters include Mohammed Ali, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Oscar De La Hoya and many more. This CGR review of Fight Night Champion has Fight Night Champion gameplay on PS3 showing Fight Night Champion game play in HD (also on Xbox 360)

  • Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Dead Space 2 from Visceral Games and Electronic Arts for the PlayStation 3. Dead Space 2 is also available for the Xbox 360. Like the original, a captivating story fuels Dead Space 2. Isaac is haunted by terrifying visions of his dead girlfriend, a death for which he feels responsible. But are they really hallucinations? As the boundaries between the psychological and physical world blur, Dead Space 2 weaves an engaging fabric of tragedy, acceptance…and sheer terror. That’s what keeps you glued to Dead Space 2. What keeps you playing, however, is that gruesome Dead Space gameplay, a set of mechanics that have been honed to a gleam for this sequel. Speaking of the rotting flesh on the Ishimura, Dead Space is a surgical game, a word as fitting for what you’re doing as what you’re doing it to. This video review features video gameplay footage of Dead Space 2 for the PlayStation 3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.
