Can you play an mp3 through a playstation 3?

Please could anyone tell me if you can play an mp3 through a playstation 3 not to watch the video but just to hear the sound on my speakers which are connected to the tv.

yes you can. you could hook up an mp3 player or a usb storage device with an mp3 on it
