Classic Game Room HD – DIG DUG for Playstation 3 PS3 review
25 CommentsClassic Game Room HD reviews DIG DUG for Playstation 3 PS3, part of the Namco Museum Essentials collection downloadable from the Playstation Network for PS3. This version of Dig Dug looks sharp, sounds good and plays like Dig Dug should play. There’s no messing with the classic, this is Dig Dug presented in its true arcade form. Solid gameplay as you dig through the levels and drop boulders on enemis like Fygars. Namco Museum Essentials comes with six games: Dig Dug, Xevious, Pac Man, Galaga, Dragon Spirit and Xevious Resurrection. Dig Dug has unlockable prizes for Playstation Home and trophies for PS3. This CGR review of Namco’s 1982 classic re-release Dig Dug on Playstation 3 has Dig Dug gameplay from PS3 in HD showing classic, retro, arcade style coin-op Dig Dug video game play in action. You can unlock the Dig Dug arcade cabinet for Playstation Home with the Dig Dug trial version (which is free).

I love Dig Dug… odd because I don’t like Pac-Man.

But aren’t PS3 Trophies the exact same thing?

A dream come true for those of us who settled for Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Colecovision, Sega Genesis versions.
I have the MAME32 emulator on the PC which allows even more customization. But to be able to play the EXACT copy of the arcade game, from the demo screens to the insert coin and high score menus all on the PS3 in the living room couch is AWESOME! KEEP ‘EM COMING!

PS3 Trophies = 360 Achievements

I am not impressed…the PS3 is millions times more powerful than the Dig Dug original hardware, they could at least improve the graphics…

The whole point of these classic games is to have them in original form as they were when we were in the arcades playing them. If you’re older & played these back then, you can relate. We all know today’s computers and consoles are 1000 times more powerful & yes, they could improve graphics, BUT many of us just want to go back in time as it was back then. Maybe enhanced versions IN ADDITION TO would be ok.That’s why all these retro arcade collections have been so popular on all systems.

@oc395 No, the actual hardware is garbage.
The stick and buttons are junk, cheap garbage, horrible switches. -

My cousin has a graphic updated 2 player version of this game on Gamecube and it was awesome. I would play it again. And again, and again and again and again…

@TheMVRules – Yes, graphics is EVERYTHING in a game. Forget gameplay, let’s just focus on the graphics. Graphics, graphics, graphics. What exactly were you expecting from a 30 year old game, ultra realistic 3D, anti-aliasing, bloom? C’mon.
Old arcade games are meant to be PLAYED not look pretty.

@infringementMAN I agree %100 percent. ‘Hey, guys, this was rated the #1 game of all time, but it’s graphics suck, let’s go play MW2!’
Jesus, graphics don’t matter, it’s the GAMEPLAY that counts…
