Because they only hold something like 150 megabytes. ps3 games are GIGABYTES. anyway, floppies are crap.

Actually, in the same form factor as a normal cart, they can hold like up to 256 gigabytes, it would just be WAYYYY to expensive (like 500 dollars)

I knew this version would come out when I saw the original PS3 version. I said to everyone that in around a year +/- a few months they would have a more compact version. Seeing as I don’t have a PS3 yet I might consider one of these.

Or achieve the same results by dropping it on the floor and hitting it with a stick a few dozen times

I agree with you.
There’s an update comin for al the ps3’s, with that update you cant instal an other OS. So that means no more hacking for al the ps3’s. -

Linux is great on the ps3 I don’t hack I just like it to learn another OS it’s way better than Window’s that OS makes you want to jump out 1 lol ;P Mac’s and PS3’s run the best !

I do not recommend it to you, it has no dual-OS capability (you can’t install Linux on it) no retro compatibility at all with other PS consoles, no card reader, and you can’t place it upwards without a separately sold stand (like the first PS2). It’s an entry level console for those who never had a PS3 and want the essential

they tested stand up is fine and it can play ps1 games and u can get add on card readers

linkpluss said on August 28th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
No my friend, ver 3.0 firmware update will not disable other os. The more expensivly made ps3s will always have the other os but the cheaply slimmer made ps3 wiill never have the other os

Yeah, I’m also not a console gamer. My true roots are in PCs, but I occasionally play on consoles. Usually I’d just rather spend my money on upgrading my PC though.

Mac is Linux -_-
The PS3 graphics ship is also slower.
but I love my PS3 and I love installing OS and messing around.
And windows it great I am using it now always have and always will do it has the most support and every pc comes installed with it. -

45nm Cell fabrication process, which means the Cell processor consumes less energy and releases less heat.
Other than that and the size, there is no internal difference between the PS3 Slim and the Original PS3 (80GB)
