Classic Game Room reviews HAL 21, a Playstation Mini for PS3 & PSP from SNK Playmore. This arcade SHMUPS style space ship shooter from SNK was released in 1985 and should appeal to fans of Namco’s Xevious. This insanely difficult vertical scrolling SHMUP space ship shooter on Playstation 3 (and PSP) has an old school “Xevious” style with basic weapons and bombs for ground targets. Enemy patterns are fast and erratic and players will need to memorize and shoot for points and extra lives to stay alive. Sadly HAL 21 does not have 2 player co-op gameplay, even though it says so on the screen. No two player coop gameplay in a space ship shooter!? Boo! Aside from that Hal 21 is a solid, affordable videogame with explosions, space ships and laser beams with ultra-challenging gameplay on PS3 and PSP.

Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of HAZE for the Playstation 3 PS3 video game console system. Haze is a first person shooter exclusive on the PS3 where you play as Shane Carpenter, a soldier for the mysterious government fundere military groun, Mantel. Developed by the excellent Free Radical, Haze is a completely different game from one of our favorites, Timesplitters. In Time Splitters the gameplay is a bit more solid and the humor is far greater. Haze is a hard and gritty shooter that has an interesting storyline built into it. CGRHD enjoyed it, but it is not without it’s flaws. We aren’t sure if this game trumps vs. Resitance Fall of Man, Halo 3 or Bioshock, but it is worth playing (or at least renting) and enjoying the unique and violent storyline and gameplay in this FPS for the PS 3. Haze has its own proprietary graphics engine and is delivered on a blu-ray disc. The band Korn recorded a song for it apparently (although we aren’t sure if we heard it yet). Haze is not currently available for the Xbox 360, Wii, PC or Atari 7800. Part 1 of 2. The Classic Game Room HD RESISTANCE 2 review. CGRHD reviews Resistance 2, the new first person shooter from Insomniac for the Playstation 3 PS3 video game console. Nathan Hale returns to fight the Chimera in America this time around. Resistance: Fall of Man came out a year or two ago and blew us away with its smooth gameplay, awesome storyline and tremendous FPS action. This R2 review shows that everything has improved. The sound effects, graphics, environment and action have somehow reached a new level of perfection. Although Resistance 2 has an improved multiplayer mode this part of the review covers the single player campaign mode. Controls are solid, the footage shows the action packed gameplay on the PS3 and the ferocity of the enemies who confront you. Your favorite weapons are back along with many new ones. The Bullseye, Laark and Auger just to name a few. R2 is a blast to play and this review has the best gameplay footage you’re likely to find thanks to the CGRHD team of magic unicorns and video recording equipment. Resistance 2 is out now for the PS3. Highly recommended. This game is not likely to come out for the Xbox 360, Wii or Atari 2600 any time soon. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of WARHAWK for the Playstation 3 PS3 video game console. This multiplayer action, shooter, tank, flying, airplane simulator run amok out of control nonstop mayhem game is loads of fun to play against hordes of other Warhawk fanatics. Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, zones and team deathmatch are just some of the exciting modes to play in. Warhawk originally used the sixaxis controller exclusively but now has a patch to use the PS3 controller in a normal mode which worked very well. They seem to be constantly updates this game with new downloadable content, levels and patches all the time. CGRHD enjoyed Warhawk very much and hopes to see more additions to it. Maybe they can have an all out brawl between Warhawk and Halo 3… that could get ugly. This game reminds us of Star Wars Battlefront and also Herzog Zwei on the Sega Genesis, sort of. Classic Game Room HD reviews STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED for Xbox 360, also available for Playstation 3 PS3 and Nintendo Wii from LucasArts.
