Classic Game Room reviews HAL 21, a Playstation Mini for PS3 & PSP from SNK Playmore. This arcade SHMUPS style space ship shooter from SNK was released in 1985 and should appeal to fans of Namco’s Xevious. This insanely difficult vertical scrolling SHMUP space ship shooter on Playstation 3 (and PSP) has an old school “Xevious” style with basic weapons and bombs for ground targets. Enemy patterns are fast and erratic and players will need to memorize and shoot for points and extra lives to stay alive. Sadly HAL 21 does not have 2 player co-op gameplay, even though it says so on the screen. No two player coop gameplay in a space ship shooter!? Boo! Aside from that Hal 21 is a solid, affordable videogame with explosions, space ships and laser beams with ultra-challenging gameplay on PS3 and PSP.

It uses 3d elements and pushed the PSX to its limits with incredible graphics, gameplay, sound and replay value. Einhander is a side scroller like Gradius III IV or V, Thunder Force or Life Force. But this game is different because it uses gunpods and the mechanized arm that controls them. It’s amazing and regarded by some as the best shooter ever made. It also has a light saber, homing missiles and a foxy announcer who teached you things in the training seminar. This game should be remade in 2008, 2009 or 2010 as a Playstation 3 PS3 game or something for Xbox Live Arcade. Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Waste waves of alien bad guys with your space ship outfitted with a variety of armor / weapon power ups. Cool armor collection system, G (gold) purchases and amazing graphics and sound will bombard your senses with sheer awesomeness.
